Coming to my first TFMU, I didn't know what to expect. I had some people I knew fairly well, but the rest, it was all wide open.

What I hadn't expected was the number of people who came up and told me they were excited to meet me, and one epically amazing scream.

I live in my own little corner of the Fandom most days so to be embraced like that was an unexpected and welcome surprise.

The events were fun and varied, but the time you get to spend with all those internet friends and acquaintances is where the real joy lies.

Whether it is your first meet-up or your fifth, it is something you need to experience for yourself and it quickly becomes addicting.

I'm already planning for next year and can't wait to see who I get to meet this go around.

I've been in the Twific Universe for a dozen years and a Twific writer for nearly as long.  I wrote my stories to please myself and much to my joy I found that there were others who enjoyed Twilight as much as I did.  To my surprise and gratification, there were even some who enjoyed reading my little Twilight musings.  It was and is a complete joy.

But to me, these wonderful people who left reviews of my work were mysteries.  Yes, I knew their screen names and I knew what they thought about my various Edward and Bellas, but they seemed a little two dimensional to me--just names on a comment. But really, how their comments, encouragement and, yes, love made my heart fly!

So, as time passed, I became curious about the wonderful people behind those wonderful words.  I was invited to a local meet up--well not local to me, but sort of in the neighborhood--and feeling a little trepidatious, I went and had a marvelous time.  The quality of conversation was amazing, and the love was real.  The ladies at the Carolina meetup encouraged me to attend the National meetup in Cleveland the following summer, so as soon as I got back home, I signed me and Mister up to attend.

Every moment in Cleveland was wonderful.  Putting faces to names, feeling acceptance, amazing intellect, listening, learning, laughing, and loving.  It was all wonderful and I highly recommend it to all TwiFic followers.

Plus, we were just a block from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and that was a delight all in itself.

It was fabulous.  Go!  You'll never regret it.

I won't.

I had been thinking about going to TFMU for years.  I always found some reason that I couldn’t go.  After attending my first one this year in Austin, I can say I will always regret not going sooner.  I finally decided to go since it was local for me.  I LOVED every minute of it and everyone that I met.  My one regret from this year is not staying at the hotel with everyone.  Lesson learned, even if you are local, stay at the hotel.  Everyone kept telling me this and I wish I had listened.  I met my people and cannot wait for the next one!!!

I have to admit, I don't really have a lot of friends that I hang out with on a regular basis. I also don't have a lot of things that I do outside of my normal routine. That being said, I have and will continue to drop everything to get to TFMU. Austin was my 10th meetup (with a couple of East Coast Meet-Ups thrown in), and I relish every single one of them. Even the times when a little drama cropped up, they are the best weekend of my year. I've never felt more in tune with a group of women than I do with my Meetup people. As soon I see my first face on that first day, I know I'm home. No matter what I talk about, or what my interests are, there is someone to share them with. I cry tears of joy, tears of sadness, and tears just because. I laugh louder, harder, and more obnoxiously at TFMU than I do anywhere else. It sounds corny, but I'm the most me when I am with my fic ladies. If you love Twilight fanfiction, but don't have anyone to talk about it with, we have a spot for you!

Just returned from the most recent TFMU held in Austin TX. After a year of stress and delay because of a global pandemic, the organizers (mostly Angela) held another fantastic event.  I’ve been attending these meet ups since 2013 in Chicago.

Each event and each cities has its own special memories, but what is consistent is the joy of see friends from across the country who share a common love.  As someone pointed out at the most recent meeting, “these are my people”.

The people who attend both writers and readers are accomplished members of society in their own universe, but for one weekend every year we can leave our daily grind behind and live in the world of Twilight FanFiction.

Reward yourself by giving up a weekend to meet new and wonderful people who will support you and become lifelong friends.

Austin was my first meet up. I walked in not knowing anyone and not knowing where to sit. I met some of the best women ever.
I do not make friends very easy. Everyone made me feel welcome and relaxed.
I live local so I drove each day, and everyone made me feel included in the activities. I did not feel like I was a burden on anyone.
I feel that I made friendships to last a lifetime and I can not wait till next year.

Thank you Angela for everything you do to set these up. You are the best.

Attending my first TwiFic Meetup in Austin was like a pilgrimage for me. I discovered TwiFic in 2009 and never looked back! Getting to gather with my people - folks who are as addicted to Twilight FanFiction as I am - was an incredible experience. I truly loved meeting other members of my tribe. I even had several fangirl episodes when I met some of my favorite authors (I tried not to embarrass myself)!

I really enjoyed the panels (and being a panelist); the moderators and participants did a fantastic job. The round table discussions of different types of fanfics were great, but I kept thinking of fanfics in response to subjects we’d already moved on from. I might have snuck back to some of the other tables to add them to the lists…

The meet and greets and the pajama party were SO MUCH FUN! Sunday morning came way too fast, and now I can’t wait for the next TFMU. I’m definitely planning to be there!

Austin was a blast!  No amount of time…Is really enough to explain how great these weekends are .  I will say simply that it is a fantastic experience.  To be with people who speak your language and get you is always an amazing experience. Seeing the sights of a new city complete with new friends and old friends I haven’t seen in a long time is truly the highlight of my year, and I am already making plans to be at the next meet up. There are never strangers here only friends you haven’t met yet.  If you are on the fence about whether or not you would have a good time trust me, hop off Pack your bag and Mark your calendar you won’t regret it.

I love attending TFMU, both the official event and the other, smaller or regional gatherings.  My love of Twilight Fan Fiction remains strong and the chance to get together with other fans means a lot.  The ability to meet and talk with authors whose stories I adore is amazing.  These folks are superstars in my eyes, along with some of the "superfans" out there.  I knew two people at the first meetup I attended in Chicago 2013.  And now there are so many I consider friends.

Fandom friends are like no other friends you'll ever have. They are instant friends. Instant best friends in some cases. Austin will be my third meet-up and I can't wait to see my fandom family again. It's so awesome to be amongst other people who understand and share the same passion as me. I don't have to explain why I love Twilight fanfiction or what it is. Everyone is of the same mindset and it's so empowering to watch, listen, and interact with gals who morph from Facebook/fanfic "names", to "real life" people. If this will be anyone's first meet-up, be prepare to HUG... A LOT...     Squeal... A LOT..     Laugh, smile, giggle.. A LOT.

I’ll tell anyone who is nervous just thinking about going to a meetup that it’s like walking into a room full of best friends you never knew you had. Seriously. A group of women who just GET you and this crazy thing we all love to do is one of the greatest things I’ve ever been a part of. Online friendships with some amazing women were only solidified when we met face to face. Discussions about our favorite fics and authors, activities, sightseeing in a usually new-to-me city, amazing food and even better company all make the weekend the highlight of my summer. And every time we gather together, new friendships are formed and old ones are strengthened.

There’s nothing quite like the energy of a TFMU. That squeal of recognition when you “meet” an old friend for the first time in person! The shared passion/affliction for those beloved fanfic characters with someone else who REALLY gets it and who stayed up all night reading it too! The warmth and connection with “my peeps”- a crazy bunch of writers and readers from all over the globe that I never would have known but who are now a huge part of my life. Every meetup brings new surprises and deeper friendships. It’s so easy to step into the room where everyone already accepts and loves you. Join us! XO

The only phrase I can come up with when describing my first TFMU meetup in 2019 is, “I’ve finally found my tribe!” Whether you know everybody or no one, you will instantly be taken into the fold and you’ll feel as if you’ve known everyone in the room for years. The only bad part about the whole thing is saying good-bye.

I have attended every TFMU except the first one.  Each time I have been blessed to make new friends, reconnect with friends from across the country and fan girl my favorite authors.  There is something for everyone, even the most shy among us.  I’ve made friends with women I would have never met had I not gone to that first meet up in Chicago and I’ve never spoken with anyone who regretted attending.

My first meetup was Saint Louis 2019, and it was beyond anything I could have imagined. So many women sharing the same passion as me talking about the same stories I have fallen in love with. And meeting people that I have been talking with and reading their work for years was awe-inspiring. It was an amazing weekend of laughs dancing and memory-making and I can't wait to attend another one in the future.
